Verdant Zeal Summit to Examine Global Market Opportunities for African Culture

African music, film, fashion and other creative industries will take centre stage at the 14th Innovention Series on October 29, as industry leaders examine how cultural expression can generate economic value, create jobs and expand the continent’s global influence.

The virtual roundtable, organised by Verdant Zeal Group Limited, will focus on the theme, “Culture as Currency: Exporting African Identity Through Entertainment.”

The discussion is expected to explore how African creatives can use storytelling and cultural identity to reach international audiences, strengthen the commercial value of their work and build a globally competitive creative industry.

Speakers at the event will include Efe Omoregbe, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Now Muzik and Buckwyld Media Network, and Obi Asika, Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture.

They will examine opportunities within Africa’s entertainment industry and ways to translate the continent’s growing cultural influence into sustainable commercial ventures.

Executive Vice Chairman of Verdant Zeal Group and convener of the series, Dr Tunji Olugbodi, said African culture should be recognised not only as a source of identity and creative expression but also as an economic asset capable of driving enterprise and employment.

He said the 2026 edition would explore the intersection of culture, commerce and creativity, with a focus on practical opportunities for developing a sustainable and internationally competitive African creative sector.

Established in 2012, the Innovention Series is Verdant Zeal’s annual thought leadership platform focused on public and private sector issues, African development and ideas for driving progress.

Participation in the October 29 event is free, but prospective attendees are required to register through www.innoventionseries.org.
