Police Arrest Suspect, Recover 16 Railway Iron Rods in Ogun

Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old man over alleged railway infrastructure vandalism in the Arigbajo area, recovering 16 railway iron rods and two gas cylinders.

The suspect, identified as Shobande Taofeek, was arrested by operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit on October 23, 2026, following intelligence about the vandalism and theft of railway materials.

The police said intensified surveillance and patrols in the affected area led to the arrest, after which the suspect reportedly directed operatives to an uncompleted building where the items were recovered.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect allegedly confessed to involvement in similar offences on three previous occasions.

The command said efforts were ongoing to arrest other suspects linked to the alleged crime and recover additional stolen property.

Commissioner of Police in Ogun state, Bode Ojajuni, reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting public assets and critical infrastructure, urging residents to provide timely and credible information to support crime prevention across the state.
