Rite Foods Limited has reinforced its commitment to sustainable manufacturing, reporting lower greenhouse gas emissions, increased clean energy adoption and over ₦581.92 million invested in community development as part of its 2025 sustainability drive.
The food and beverage company disclosed the achievements while presenting its 2025 Sustainability Report in Lagos, highlighting the impact of its environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives on operational efficiency and community development.
According to the report, the company reduced greenhouse gas emissions by more than five per cent, improved carbon intensity by 23 per cent, increased water-use efficiency by 15 per cent and enhanced solid waste management by 27 per cent through investments in cleaner production processes and resource efficiency.
Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, Rite Foods Limited, Mr. Ekuma Eze, said the milestones reflect the company’s deliberate efforts to build a more resilient and responsible business while embedding sustainability at the core of its operations.
He added that the company has accelerated its transition to cleaner energy, with natural gas now accounting for more than 93 per cent of its energy mix, alongside increased investment in renewable energy solutions to support its long-term sustainability goals.
Beyond environmental sustainability, Eze said Rite Foods continues to create socio-economic value by sustaining about 3,000 direct jobs and more than 12,000 indirect jobs across its value chain.
He disclosed that the company invested over ₦581.92 million in education, healthcare, youth empowerment, environmental initiatives and other community development programmes, reaffirming its commitment to improving livelihoods in its host communities.
“Sustainability has become a defining pillar of Rite Foods’ growth strategy and a key driver of long-term value creation. Every milestone we have achieved reflects our resolve to operate responsibly, reduce our environmental footprint, create shared value for our stakeholders and contribute meaningfully to national development,” Eze said.
He noted that the company would continue to focus on innovation, transparency and continuous improvement to ensure its growth delivers lasting benefits to consumers, employees and host communities.
Eze also said Rite Foods has voluntarily aligned its sustainability disclosures with globally recognised reporting frameworks, including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards and elements of the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, demonstrating its commitment to transparency, accountability and responsible corporate leadership.
Rite Foods said it remains committed to driving sustainable innovation, creating shared value and setting higher standards for responsible manufacturing through its portfolio of food and beverage brands, including Bigi Carbonated Soft Drinks, Bigi Premium Drinking Water, Sosa Fruit Drink, Fearless Energy Drink and its range of sausages.
