The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Bode Ojajuni, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to supporting sports development and youth empowerment.
He stated this when he received Nigeria Police officer and world boxing champion, Olagbade Sulaimon, alongside the OtaFEST Nigeria organising team on a courtesy visit at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
The delegation, led by Michael Gomwalk Adebowale, briefed the police chief on preparations for the 2026 OtaFEST Nigeria Festival, a cultural and creative event designed to promote youth engagement, tourism, trade, sports, entertainment, and community development.
A major attraction of the festival will be an international boxing contest featuring Sulaimon, popularly known as Tyson Kill, who is scheduled to face a professional boxer from Lithuania in a bout expected to draw local and international attention.
The organisers commended the Ogun State Police Command for maintaining peace and security across the state and sought continued collaboration to ensure a successful event.
Responding, CP Ojajuni praised the vision behind OtaFEST, describing it as a platform capable of promoting culture, sports, tourism, and economic opportunities for young people.
The police commissioner also lauded Tyson Kill for his achievements in the boxing world, noting that the officer has brought honour and international recognition to the Nigeria Police Force through his outstanding performances.
He highlighted the boxer’s accomplishments, including his reign as former Nigerian National Super Welterweight Champion, former West African Boxing Union Champion, former World Boxing Union Champion, and current World Boxing Body Super Welterweight Champion.
According to Ojajuni, the boxer’s success reflects discipline, resilience, and professionalism, qualities that continue to inspire young Nigerians.
The commissioner assured the organisers of adequate security support within the ambit of the law, while urging stakeholders to work together to ensure a peaceful and successful OtaFEST 2026.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to community-oriented policing and initiatives that promote social development, unity, and youth empowerment through sports.
