The Adeniji family of Abeokuta, Ogun State, has announced the passing of renowned legal practitioner, businessman, and cleric, Adewale Olubiyi Adeniji, who died on June 12, 2026, at the age of 61.
In a statement issued by his son, Fikun Adeniji, on behalf of the family, the late Barrister Adeniji was described as a distinguished professional and a man whose life was devoted to service, faith, and national development.
According to the family, Adeniji was widely respected in the legal profession, recognized for his contributions to business, and admired for his role as a spiritual leader who positively impacted many lives through his ministry.
The statement noted that he was a proud son of Abeokuta whose passion for Nigeria’s growth and progress remained unwavering throughout his lifetime.
“Everyone who knew my dad knew he was deeply passionate about his country and dedicated to its progress and development. His legacy of service and positive impact will continue to resonate through the many lives he influenced,” the statement read.
The family described him as “a great man, full of energy and life,” whose influence extended beyond his professional accomplishments to mentoring, supporting, and inspiring people from different walks of life.
Barrister Adeniji is survived by his wife, Olukemi, children, grandchildren, siblings, and a host of relatives, friends, colleagues, and associates.
The family expressed appreciation for the outpouring of condolences, prayers, and support received since his passing and appealed for continued prayers as they mourn the loss of what they described as a remarkable husband, father, grandfather, brother, mentor, and friend.
Funeral arrangements, according to the family, will be announced in due course.
