The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, OHCSF has approved the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC Scheme of Service, marking a major milestone in the Commission’s institutional development.
The approval, the first of its kind for NIMC, is expected to strengthen the Commission’s operational framework and enhance career development opportunities for its workforce.
NIMC said the development aligns with the reform agenda of its Director General and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, aimed at repositioning the Commission as a modern and globally competitive institution. The Scheme is also designed to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda through improved public service delivery and human capital development.
The newly approved Scheme of Service provides a comprehensive framework that outlines staff cadres, promotion pathways, organisational structure, job responsibilities, qualification requirements, and professional standards. It is aligned with Public Service Rules and international best practices.
Speaking during the presentation of the approval, Deputy Director, Scheme of Service, Organisational Design Department, OHCSF, Mr. Imirhe Gabriel Nwagolo, commended NIMC for its commitment to institutional excellence, noting that the Commission is among a select number of federal agencies that have secured approval for a dedicated Scheme of Service.
Representing the Director General, the Head of Human Capital Management at NIMC, Mrs. Rhoda Jackden, expressed appreciation to the OHCSF for the approval, describing it as a significant achievement for the Commission.
She reiterated NIMC’s commitment to the effective implementation of the Scheme, which introduces new Enrolment, Card and Commercial Cadres alongside existing career structures.
The Commission noted that the approval would strengthen workforce management, enhance staff career progression, and support the delivery of its core mandate of identity management in Nigeria.
