The Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF has donated operational vehicles, bulletproof vests, and ballistic helmets to strengthen the operational capacity of the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit of the Lagos State Police Command.
The presentation was made on Friday, May 15, 2026, by the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of LSSTF, Ayodele Ogunsan, as part of efforts to improve operational readiness, rapid response capability, and personnel protection across Lagos State.
The equipment and operational vehicles were formally received by the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, during a handover ceremony attended by senior police officers and other security stakeholders.
The Violent Crime Response Unit was recently launched by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to strengthen rapid operational deployment and coordinated security response across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking during the presentation, Ogunsan reaffirmed the LSSTF’s commitment to supporting security agencies with operational logistics and protective equipment aimed at enhancing policing efficiency and officer safety.
He noted that effective security management requires sustained collaboration between government institutions and law enforcement agencies, stressing the importance of equipping frontline personnel with modern tools to effectively tackle emerging security challenges.
According to him, Lagos, as Nigeria’s commercial hub and one of Africa’s fastest-growing economic centres, must remain proactive in strengthening its security architecture through continuous investment in mobility, welfare, and operational support for security personnel.
In his remarks, CP Tijani commended the Lagos State Security Trust Fund for its consistent support and strategic interventions in strengthening security operations across the state.
He described the donation as timely and impactful, noting that the operational vehicles and protective gear would significantly improve operational readiness, mobility, and personnel protection within the Lagos State Police Command.
