The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has ordered additional deployment of security personnel and tactical teams following a follow-up assessment of the environmental incident recorded along the Agoro/Okunowa Road axis of Ijebu-Ode.
The assessment, conducted on Saturday, May 16, 2026, was carried out alongside the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, Muritala Bolanle, the Officer in Charge of the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, and other emergency response stakeholders.
During the visit, the police commissioner toured affected communities and schools, including Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School and other impacted locations within the area.
Following the assessment, Ojajuni directed the immediate deployment of additional Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal personnel, surveillance teams, tactical operatives, and members of the School Protection Squad to strengthen security coverage around affected schools and communities.
The operation was carried out in collaboration with the Ogun State Commissioners for Education, Environment, and Health.
Residents, teachers, parents, students, and community stakeholders were also sensitised on precautionary safety measures and emergency response procedures during the visit.
Addressing participants during the sensitisation exercise, the police commissioner urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and adhere strictly to established emergency protocols.
The Ogun State Police Command advised members of the public to contact the Ogun State Government Emergency Call Centre on 08112000033 in the event of emergencies related to the incident.
Residents were also advised to assist affected persons experiencing breathing difficulties by using wet clothes where necessary and ensuring victims are promptly taken to the nearest hospital for urgent medical attention.
The command reassured residents that the situation remains under control, adding that monitoring, surveillance, and coordinated emergency response operations are ongoing across the affected communities.
