The Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, has announced its readiness to participate in the 2026 National Police Day celebrations, with a series of activities scheduled to hold from March 30 to April 7, 2026.
The Command disclosed that the week-long programme aligns with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and is themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust.” The theme underscores the Force’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the public while promoting transparency, accountability, and trust in policing.
According to the Command, activities will commence on Monday, March 30, with sanitation and environmental cleaning of the Zone 2 Command and its surroundings, alongside a medical outreach for members of the public.
On Tuesday, March 31, a walkathon will be held to encourage public engagement and foster unity between the police and the community.
The third day, Wednesday, April 1, will feature sensitisation campaigns focusing on the prevention of electoral violence, ballot snatching, and other related offences, as well as awareness on safe driving practices for motorists.
Activities will continue on Thursday, April 2, with the presentation of cheques to families of deceased police officers in recognition of their sacrifices to the nation.
The celebration will culminate in a grand finale on April 7 in Abuja, featuring ceremonial and tactical displays by the Nigeria Police Force.
The Zone 2 Command called on residents of Lagos and Ogun states to actively participate in the activities and collaborate with the police in building stronger partnerships and ensuring a safer society.
