Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, have arrested three suspects over alleged involvement in criminal conspiracy, cybercrime, fraud, forgery, impersonation, and cultism.
The arrests were carried out under the leadership of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, following credible intelligence received by the Zonal Intelligence Department (ZID) on January 7, 2026.
Police operatives conducted a targeted operation in the Lekki–Ajah axis of Lagos State, leading to the arrest of Tega Emmanuel (24), Jacob Olatunde (33), and Gift Okubakpere (36). Emmanuel was first intercepted along Chevron Drive while driving a Porsche vehicle and reportedly confessed to cybercrime activities.
A subsequent search of his residence led to the arrest of the two other suspects. Investigations revealed that Emmanuel allegedly coordinated cyber fraud and romance scams, Olatunde handled financial transactions, while Okubakpere managed cryptocurrency-related scams using social media and online platforms.
Items recovered from the suspects include laptops, mobile phones, international passports, vehicle number plates, dealer plates, a mini printer, and a toy gun reportedly used for skit production. Police also recovered 98 pieces of suspected counterfeit 100-dollar notes, as well as substances believed to be illicit drugs.
Authorities said investigations are ongoing, with relevant agencies engaged to verify the status of the recovered currency and substances.
The AIG assured that the suspects will be prosecuted upon conclusion of investigations, adding that efforts are underway to apprehend other members of the syndicate. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling fraud-related offences across Lagos and Ogun States.
