Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Fatai Tijani, has paid a courtesy visit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, reaffirming his commitment to sustaining and advancing the state’s security architecture
The meeting, held at Lagos House, marked CP Tijani’s first formal engagement with the state’s chief executive since assuming office as the 42nd Commissioner of Police in Lagos.
He was accompanied by the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayo Ogunsan.
Governor Sanwo-Olu welcomed the new police chief, commending his professional pedigree and reiterating his administration’s unwavering support for security agencies. He stressed that Lagos would continue to invest in innovative solutions and institutional partnerships to strengthen public safety.
CP Tijani outlined a forward-looking policing strategy anchored on intelligence-led operations, community engagement, and the integration of technology to tackle emerging security threats.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government, police, private sector stakeholders, and the citizenry in maintaining Lagos’ status as a safe, investment-friendly megacity.
Dr. Ogunsan, highlighting the critical role of the LSSTF in financing security initiatives, expressed confidence in CP Tijani’s leadership and pledged institutional backing. He stressed that synergy between stakeholders would be key to translating strategic plans into measurable security outcomes.
CP Tijani, a native of Agege Local Government Area, Lagos State, attended Anwar-ul-Islam College, Agege (1979–1984) and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State.
He joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on 10 June 1994 and has served in key leadership roles.
