The Ogun State Police Command has announced a lineup of activities to mark the 2026 National Police Day, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust.”
The celebration, according to the Command, is dedicated to fallen heroes of the Nigeria Police Force, as well as serving and retired officers, stakeholders, and members of the public for their continued support.
Speaking on the programme, the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, said the activities are designed to strengthen collaboration between the police and the community while promoting public safety and trust.
The four-day event will commence on Monday, March 30, with a medical outreach organised by the Police Medical Unit at Iwe-Iroyin, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta. This will be held alongside an environmental sanitation exercise across police formations in partnership with community stakeholders.
On Tuesday, March 31, a statewide walkathon will take place simultaneously across the state, with starting points at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, as well as area commands and divisions. The exercise, scheduled to begin at 6:00 a.m., is aimed at fostering unity and collective commitment to public safety.
Activities will continue on Wednesday, April 1, with sensitisation campaigns across the state, focusing on the prevention of electoral violence, ballot snatching, and other related offences. The campaign will also include awareness on safe driving practices and adherence to traffic regulations.
The event will culminate on Thursday, April 2, with the presentation of welfare cheques to families of deceased officers on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, in recognition of their sacrifices.
CP Ojajuni called on community leaders, youth and women groups, stakeholders, and the general public to actively participate in the activities, describing the celebration as an opportunity to demonstrate support for the police and deepen trust between law enforcement and citizens.
