The Ogun State Police Command has clarified the circumstances surrounding an incident at the Oru-Ijebu Police Division, stating that no students were detained at the facility.
According to the Command, a group of students on Saturday, March 28, 2026, mobilised to the police division in Oru-Ijebu, alleging that some of their colleagues were being held in custody.
However, the Divisional Police Officer reportedly confirmed that no student was in detention at the station.
The police said the situation escalated when the students became agitated, breached the station gate, and began throwing stones and bottles, posing a threat to personnel and property.
Reinforcements were subsequently deployed, and teargas was used to disperse the crowd and restore order.
The Command noted that normalcy has since been restored in the area.
It also urged members of the public, particularly students, to channel grievances through lawful and peaceful means, while reaffirming its commitment to professionalism and the safety of lives and property.
