The Lagos State Security Trust Fund,LSSTF has commenced a comprehensive statewide training programme for over 1,000 security operatives, in a move aimed at strengthening Lagos’ security architecture through enhanced professionalism, ethics, and inter-agency collaboration.
The training, themed “Enhancing Professional Capacity, Ethical Standards and Inter-Agency Collaboration for Effective Security Operations,” is scheduled to run for 10 months and involves personnel drawn from multiple law enforcement and security agencies across the state.
The initiative, executed under the leadership of the Executive Secretary/CEO, Ayo Ogunsan, in partnership with Globus Training and Advisory Ltd., underscores the Lagos State Government’s commitment to a unified and intelligence-driven approach to security management.
In his remarks, Ogunsan described the initiative as a strategic response to the growing complexity of security challenges in Lagos, noting that investment in human capacity is critical to effective security operations.
“Modern security challenges are becoming more sophisticated and interconnected. Addressing them requires not only infrastructure but also well-trained personnel with the right skills, ethical orientation, and ability to collaborate across agencies,” he said.
He noted that the training is anchored on three pillars; professional capacity, ethical standards, and inter-agency collaboration, aimed at transitioning from reactive to intelligence-driven policing.
Also, LSSTF Board Chairman, Kehinde Durosinmi-Etti, who was represented by Agboola Oshodi-Glover, as well as senior officers from participating agencies, gathered to inaugurate the programme.
Oshodi-Glover described the programme as a major evolution in LSSTF’s intervention strategy, urging participants to adopt innovative approaches and heightened situational awareness in their duties.
Similarly, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, charged officers to sustain excellence beyond the training environment, while Ayokunle Owolabi, Commander of 9 Brigade and Coordinator of OP Mesa, emphasised the importance of inter-agency synergy in tackling modern security threats.
Other speakers, including Christopher Onajinrin, Adedotun Keshinro, and Christopher Uzoma, highlighted the need for collaboration, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing among security agencies.
Delivering the lead training session, security expert Wale Adeagbo emphasised situational awareness, ethical conduct, and critical thinking as essential components of modern security operations.
He noted that effective policing depends on public trust, urging officers to uphold values of empathy, courage, and service.
Participating agencies include the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army (OP Mesa), Nigeria Immigration Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency, Rapid Response Squad, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, among others.
