Lagos State Police Command has announced the commencement of full enforcement of tinted glass permits across the state, beginning Thursday, October 2, 2025.
According to the Command, the operation is in line with existing laws and directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, and is aimed at enhancing public safety, curbing criminal activities, and ensuring compliance with road safety regulations.
Vehicle owners who are yet to register have been urged to obtain the approved Tinted Glass Permit at www.possap.gov.ng. Those unwilling to obtain the permit are advised to remove the tint or replace factory-fitted glasses with transparent ones, as provided by the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act of 2004. Vehicles found with tinted glass without a valid permit will be impounded, and offenders prosecuted.
The Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, warned that officers must carry out the exercise professionally, free of harassment or extortion, adding that any personnel found guilty will face disciplinary action alongside their supervising officers.
While urging motorists to always carry essential vehicle documents and cooperate during lawful stop-and-search operations, the Command stressed that the exercise is not designed to inconvenience law-abiding citizens but to ensure safety for all.
