Lagos Fire Service Contains Bolade Arena Market Fire

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has assured residents and traders that the fire outbreak at Arena Market, Bolade, Oshodi, has been successfully contained and poses no further threat to lives or property.

Controller General of the Service, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, said firefighters responded promptly after receiving a distress call at about 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday, with emergency crews arriving at the scene within five minutes.

According to Adeseye, fire crews from Bolade, Ilupeju, Ikeja, and Alausa Fire Stations were immediately deployed and worked collaboratively to bring the situation under control.

She explained that the fire affected a section of the market comprising five 40-foot container shops arranged in two rows, making a total of 10 shops, mostly used for the storage and sale of clothing materials stocked in bales.

“The fire has been confined to the affected section and completely curtailed. There is no risk of it spreading to other parts of the market,” Adeseye assured.

The Controller General stated that all necessary measures were taken to protect lives and property, adding that no casualties were reported during the incident.

She noted that an investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the fire, and further updates would be communicated to the public as required.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service urged traders and residents to remain calm and continue their activities, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to rapid emergency response and public safety across the state.
