FASU 2024: VICE CHANCELLOR INAUGURATES SUB COMMITTEES AS PREPARATIONS BEGIN FOR SEPTEMBER COMPETITION

The Vice Chancellor, Prof Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, has inaugurated sub-committee members of the 2024 Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) games which will be co-hosted by Lagos State University, LASU and the University of Lagos, UNILAG.

The inauguration of members, which cuts across the university community, was held at the Vice Chancellor’s conference room, main campus, Ojo, Lagos on Monday, 19th February 2024

The VC, in her address, noted that the sub-committees will be working with the organisers of the FASU games for a successful hosting. She charged them to be committed and discharge the given responsibilities with utmost sincerity and dedication.

The Chairman, Sports Council, Prof. Simeon Dosumu, in his address, averred that LASU is hosting the FASU games to win because the template to succeed has been made available.

He revealed that over 30 elite athletes have been admitted as students into the university, and they are among students undergoing preparation in badminton, volleyball, football, judo, taekwondo, boxing and swimming. He thanked the VC for her leadership.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration Prof. Omotunde Boyo, in her remarks, congratulated every member of the sub-committees and advised them to work together in order to achieve success.

The Sub-Committees are: Technical Team, Facilities Team, Feeding Committee, ICT and Accreditation Committee, Accommodation Committee, Security Committee, Ceremonies and Protocol Committee, Medical Committee, Media and Publicity Committee, Marketing and Fund Raising Committee, Transport Committee, Volunteer Committee.

Others are Culture and Tourism Committee, Anti-doping Committee, Immigration and External Relations Committee, Environmental Committee, Education and Scientific Forum Committee and the Commercial Revenue Generation Committee.
