The Lagos State Government is set to commemorate the 2025 Children’s Day celebration in grand style, joining global festivities.

This year’s theme: Children: “Our Future and Our Responsibility” emphasizes the collective duty to ensure children’s well-being, safety, and development.

In a statement by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the state government said the week-long festivities is scheduled to commence from Tuesday, May 20th to Tuesday, May 27th, 2025, featuring various events.

These events are as follow:

YOUTH FORUM/CAREER TALK
Date: Tuesday, 20th May, 2025
Venue: Education Resource Centre (ERC) Hall, Ojodu-Berger, Lagos
Time: 10:00 am

DEBATE COMPETITION
Date: Tuesday, 20th May, 2025
Venue: Co-Curricular Services Division Office, Akoka, Lagos
Time: 10:00 am

CULTURAL DISPLAY
Date: Wednesday, 21st May, 2025
Venue: Education Resource Centre (ERC) Hall, Ojodu-Berger, Lagos
Time: 10:00am

JUMAT SERVICE
Date: Friday, 23rd May, 2025
Venue: Alausa Secretariat Mosque, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos
Time: 12:00 Noon

THANKSGIVING SERVICE
Date: Sunday 25th May, 2025
Venue: Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos
Time: 10:00am

PARADE & RALLY
Date: Tuesday, 27th May, 2025
Venue: Police College Ground, Ikeja, Lagos
Time: 8:00 am

The statement noted that the Lagos State Government is dedicated to nurturing and supporting the next generation, recognizing children as vital contributors to the State’s future.

It added that by celebrating Children’s Day, the State Government aims to promote their welfare, development and well-being, ensuring they thrive and reach their full potential.

Blacktalker reports that the Children’s Day is celebrated on different dates worldwide, with Nigeria observing it on May 27, annually.
