Electricity consumers in Lagos with unresolved complaints over billing, metering and service delivery will have a dedicated channel for seeking redress as the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission, LASERC establishes panels to handle disputes with electricity service providers.
The panels will hold their inaugural hearings on November 4 and 5, 2026, at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry premises in Victoria Island and Alausa, Ikeja, to consider unresolved complaints involving Eko Power Ltd and IEEL electricity distribution areas.
LASERC said the initiative was designed to provide consumers with prompt, fair, transparent and impartial dispute resolution, while strengthening accountability in the state’s electricity market.
The panels comprise professionals with expertise in law, alternative dispute resolution, electrical engineering, commerce, finance and consumer rights advocacy.
To protect their independence, personnel currently employed by electricity distribution companies or LASERC have been excluded from membership.
The Chief Executive Officer of LASERC, Mrs Temitope George, said effective dispute resolution was essential to protecting consumer rights and creating a responsive regulatory environment.
She said consumers deserved impartial hearings and fair consideration of their grievances, adding that the panels would provide a structured process for addressing complaints.
George said the commission would continue to promote public engagement, enforce regulatory compliance and drive improvements in electricity service delivery across operating utilities.
LASERC urged consumers with unresolved complaints, particularly those relating to billing accuracy, metering and operational deficiencies, to submit their grievances through the commission’s official resolution channels.
