GTBank Enables Google Pay for Debit Cardholders’ Online Transactions

GTBank customers can now use their debit cards through Google Wallet to make online payments locally and internationally without repeatedly entering their card details, the bank has announced.

The service allows customers to add eligible GTBank debit cards to Google Wallet and select Google Pay at checkout when paying for subscriptions, booking flights and hotels, purchasing goods and services, paying bills and accessing digital services.

GTBank, the flagship banking subsidiary of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc, said the integration was designed to simplify online transactions while providing customers with additional security features for protecting payment information.

The bank’s Managing Director, Mrs Miriam Olusanya, said the service responded to customers’ growing demand for simpler and more secure ways to pay online.

“By enabling customers add their GTBank debit cards to Google Wallet, we are making online payments more convenient and giving them access to a globally recognised digital payment solution,” she said.

Olusanya added that the initiative was part of the bank’s efforts to reduce friction in everyday banking and develop services suited to customers’ increasingly digital lifestyles.

The integration expands GTBank customers’ payment options for transactions with merchants and service providers that support Google Pay, including those operating internationally.

The bank said the move aligned with the group’s broader strategy of using technology to make financial services more accessible and convenient.
