Lagos State Government is developing a Centre for Planning Studies and a Geographic Information System (GIS) Station at the Ojo campus of Lagos State University, LASU to expand its capacity in urban planning studies and geospatial information services.
The two projects were presented to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ayodeji Olawunmi Badejo, on Friday, October 23, 2026, by the Lagos State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Sule, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Enterprise Geographic Information Service (E-GIS) and Urban Development, Dr Olajide Babatunde.
Located within the Faculty of Arts, the Centre for Planning Studies is an initiative of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, while the GIS Station is being facilitated by Babatunde.
During an inspection of the project sites, Babatunde briefed the Vice-Chancellor and members of the university management on the objectives of the facilities and their significance to the institution.
Responding, Badejo expressed appreciation to Governor Sanwo-Olu for supporting the university’s development, saying the projects would strengthen LASU’s academic capacity and support its ambition for greater international recognition.
She also acknowledged Babatunde for facilitating the GIS Station and the Commissioner for his continued support for the institution.
The projects are expected to expand the university’s resources for planning studies and geospatial information services when completed.
