The Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF has strengthened the operational capacity of the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, 651 Base Services Group, with the donation of five refurbished operational vehicles, ballistic helmets, bulletproof vests and raincoats to enhance security operations across Lagos State.
The intervention is aimed at improving the operational readiness, protection and welfare of Air Force personnel, reinforcing the Lagos State Government’s commitment to equipping security agencies to tackle evolving security challenges and sustain public safety.
Presenting the operational assets, the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, said the donation forms part of the Trust Fund’s broader strategy of providing frontline security personnel with the equipment needed to discharge their responsibilities safely and effectively.
He noted that investing in the welfare and protection of security operatives remains critical to building a resilient security architecture capable of responding swiftly to emerging threats.
Commending the Nigerian Air Force for its professionalism, discipline and contributions to the security of Lagos and the country, Ogunsan reaffirmed the Trust Fund’s commitment to supporting all security agencies operating in the state.
“On behalf of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Board and Management of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, we appreciate your unwavering commitment to the security of Lagos. Your contribution is invaluable, and we will continue to support and encourage you to do more,” he said.
Ogunsan assured officers and men of the 651 Base Services Group that the Trust Fund would continue to provide operational support to boost effectiveness, improve morale and strengthen inter-agency collaboration.
Receiving the vehicles and protective equipment, the Commander of the Nigerian Air Force 651 Base Services Group, Air Commodore Mohammed A. Imam, thanked the Lagos State Government and the LSSTF for the donation, describing it as another demonstration of the enduring partnership between the Trust Fund and security agencies.
He said the operational vehicles and protective gear would significantly improve the safety, mobility and effectiveness of Air Force personnel deployed across Lagos State.
The visit also featured a guided tour of the 651 Base Services Group facilities, where Air Commodore Imam showcased the unit’s operational and support infrastructure while highlighting its contributions to national security.
The LSSTF delegation included its Director of Administration, Mr. Adegbola Lewis, while senior officers of the Nigerian Air Force, including Squadron Leader John Jeremiah Hibin, Squadron Leader Cosmos Emeka Francis, Flight Lieutenant Moshood Adekanmbi and Flying Officer H.M. Koimi, attended the presentation ceremony.
