The Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, NCSP, Joseph Tegbe, has held high-level discussions with the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Yu Dunhai, aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation in power, infrastructure and industrial development.
The meeting, held in Abuja, focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between Nigeria and China, while exploring practical opportunities for collaboration in key sectors critical to Nigeria’s economic transformation and modernisation agenda.
During the talks, Ambassador Yu congratulated Tegbe on his appointment as Minister of Power and commended his contributions to advancing Nigeria-China relations under the framework of the Nigeria-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The envoy reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Nigeria through the implementation of resolutions reached at the recent Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit, as well as other bilateral agreements signed by the leadership of both countries.
According to Ambassador Yu, sustained cooperation in electricity, power infrastructure and development projects remains central to strengthening ties between Nigeria and China and delivering tangible benefits to citizens of both nations.
He stressed that enhanced engagement in these strategic sectors would further elevate the comprehensive partnership and accelerate development outcomes.
Responding, Tegbe described China as a critical partner in Nigeria’s development journey and reiterated the country’s commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation.
He expressed appreciation for China’s longstanding support for Nigeria’s socio-economic development and pledged to work closely with the Chinese Embassy and relevant institutions to advance mutually beneficial initiatives.
The minister identified power infrastructure, manufacturing and modern agriculture as priority areas where greater collaboration could help unlock economic opportunities and accelerate national development.
Tegbe noted that stronger Nigeria-China relations would not only contribute to achieving Nigeria’s development goals but also support broader efforts to promote industrialisation, modernisation and sustainable development across Africa.
The meeting underscored the growing importance of Nigeria-China relations as both countries seek to leverage strategic partnerships to address infrastructure gaps, boost energy access and stimulate economic growth.
