Promasidor Nigeria Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing local dairy production and supporting the transformation of Nigeria’s dairy industry through strategic investments, sustainable production, and partnerships across the value chain.
The company made the commitment during the commemoration of World Milk Day 2026 held in Abuja, where it joined the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, the Commercial Dairy Ranchers Association of Nigeria (CODARAN), development partners, and key stakeholders in the dairy sector.
The conference, themed “Celebrating Women Dairy Farmers – Promoting Fresh Milk Consumption for a Healthy Nation,” brought together policymakers, industry leaders, dairy farmers, researchers, development partners, and private-sector operators to discuss strategies for strengthening Nigeria’s dairy industry and promoting greater participation of women in the sector.
Among dignitaries at the event were the Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha; Senior Special Assistant to the President on Livestock Development, Idris Ajimobi; representatives of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment; state government officials; development partners; and leading industry stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Livestock Development commended Promasidor and other private-sector operators for their contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s dairy industry.
The minister also unveiled the National Dairy Policy Implementation Framework, designed to strengthen local milk production, improve dairy processing, enhance cold-chain infrastructure, support milk aggregation systems, and promote pasture development nationwide.
Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, the Managing Director, Francois Gillet, emphasized the company’s dedication to building a sustainable and competitive dairy sector.
“It is a great honour to join you as we commemorate World Milk Day 2026 under the theme: ‘Celebrating Women Dairy Farmers – Promoting Fresh Milk Consumption for a Healthy Nation.’ Today, we celebrate the vital contributions of women dairy farmers to food security, livelihoods, and improved nutrition across our communities,” he said.
Gillet praised the efforts of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development and other stakeholders working to reposition the sector for sustainable growth.
Highlighting Promasidor’s contributions to dairy development, he noted that the company continues to invest significantly in local milk production and capacity building.
“At Promasidor Nigeria, we remain committed to advancing Nigeria’s dairy sector through sustainable local production and investment in dairy development. We are proud to operate the largest dairy farm in Nigeria, the Ikun Dairy Farm in Ikun-Amure, Ekiti State, with over 750 cattle producing an average of 25 kilograms of milk daily, while indirectly employing over 1,000 people,” he stated.
As part of the conference activities, Promasidor’s Chief Technical Officer, Brighton Ochieng, participated in a high-level panel discussion on innovation and technology in dairy farming.
During the session, Ochieng highlighted the role of modern dairy management practices, improved genetics, and technology-driven solutions in boosting productivity and competitiveness within the industry.
He stressed the importance of embracing innovation, including artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, to enhance efficiency and support the long-term sustainability of dairy operations.
Ochieng also reaffirmed Promasidor’s readiness to collaborate with government agencies, development partners, and industry stakeholders to strengthen local milk production and deepen value chain development.
